The Well Tree in Philly
Join Heartwood for an all-ages, participatory journey through story and song. The Well Tree is a three-person musical, illustrated with a ‘crankie’—an illuminated, papercut, hand-cranked scroll. It is an original ‘singing story’ about a young woman moving beyond the fog of isolation and shame to meet songbirds, snails, and ancient trees as she finds her way home.
TICKETS – Tickets are FREE and seating is limited. Please register to reserve tickets. This is part of an afternoon of events, including a seed-planting with Robin Wall Kimmerer’s “Plant, Baby, Plant!”
The Well Tree Performance is part of the Root Song project, presented at Bartram’s by the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society. For more events, please visit their website.

Immerse yourself in an experience of embodied collective singing with the skilled songleaders and facilitators of Heartwood. Sarina Partridge, Heidi Wilson, and Willy Clemetson will bring original, harmony-rich, accessible songs for these times- songs for connection, courage, and joy.
All ages and all voices are welcome and needed!
Things to bring:
- Bring your own floor seating if possible (blanket/ cushion/ back-jack type chair) and if the weather's nice, we may be outside (may want a sun hat, etc)
- Bring a little snack or box of tea to share if you can, and your own mug/ hot cup if possible ☕️ 🍪
